A mon fils, à mon Algérie

I write these few lines with my heart, with my passion for a land that is mine and that was brutally and unjustly taken from me.

I dedicate them to all those who, like me, feel the "pain of Algeria," to all the Pieds-Noirs, known and unknown, to all my friends, to those who have left us and whom I knew during the first nineteen years of my life.

I also dedicate them to all those men and women who contributed to the beauty of our Algeria, to those who fought for this country to remain French territory, who lost, were condemned, and died for reasons of State.

They are above all for you, Frédéric, my son. I offer them to you with all my love, so that you may have a vision, however small, of your father's life in Algiers, so that you may know your origins a little better, perpetuate them, and be proud of them.
