Algérie 1955. La bataille de la peur. Jean Brune, le journaliste (2)
Discover through this collection of articles by Jean Brune the lucid analyses of the beginning of the Algerian War, written for La Dépêche quotidienne d'Algérie between May and August 1955.
Jean Brune went to the scene to investigate the causes and extent of the rebellion, talk with the military, listen to the anxieties of the people from the bled, and question captured rebels.
From this atrocious drama, he outlines the political, economic, and especially psychological data, as close as possible to the truth. Of course, Jean Brune speaks to us as a journalist. But his descriptions of the Aurès, Sétif, Batna, the Sersou, and so many other places are nonetheless imbued with that poetic beauty that would later be found in Cette haine qui ressemble à l'amour (1961) and La Révolte (1965).
