After Algeria's independence, all Pieds-Noirs left their native country.

All of them? No! A few die-hard settlers, including Georges Untel, stayed on their farms. Having a candid and benevolent nature, Georges Untel believes in the "guarantees" included in the agreements negotiated in Evian in favor of French residents in Algeria.

Furthermore, they were repeatedly assured that everything was in place to preserve their property and their lives, their estates and their dignity, provided, of course, that they agreed to integrate into the new order created by Algeria's independence.

Georges Untel will soon discover that life is not easy in "Algerian Algeria".
