Johann Jakob Zeiller, the most significant scion of the Reutte painter family Zeiller, played a decisive role in the development of the late Baroque fresco.

His most magnificent work is certainly the Ettal dome fresco. He worked in Ottobeuren for seven whole years. With his ideas implemented al fresco, this virtuoso of Baroque painting proved to be a congenial interpreter of the built architecture.

Josef Mair, known for his excellent studies on Balthasar Riepp (2003) and Paul Zeiller (2008), has now also clearly outlined and explained Johann Jakob Zeiller's work, making it understandable even for the layperson.
