This book has no other ambition than to help restore some flouted truths and to fight against the misinformation that has surrounded the history of French Algeria for more than 50 years. It is particularly intended for the young generations of French families who had to leave Algeria at the time of its independence in 1962. Its presentation in the form of questions and answers makes it easier and more practical to read.

However, this is not a children's book, as certain passages, and in particular some accounts reported by witnesses of dramatic events, could offend their sensitivity.

It will, however, be able to help their parents answer the main questions that might be asked of them and thus contribute to doing justice to a community and a page of history that are too often misunderstood, misinterpreted, and criticized.

Finally, this book will constitute a synthetic approach for anyone wishing to be informed about what the work of France in Algeria really was.
