Douze fables en sabir. Avec le CD du disque original
Preface by Maurice Calmein. Presentation and analysis by Fernand Arnaudiès.
These fables in Sabir, from which the enclosed CD was drawn and which are intended to be read aloud (hence their phonetic spelling), reveal the sparkling spirit and the different facets of Charles Galléa's personality: attachment to his native country, a taste for picturesque detail, the music of words and accents, humor, sensitivity, and finally poetry, without which these fables would not have had the same literary dimension.
Each of them is at once a painting, a bouquet of bright colors, a selected piece where words and sounds intermingle, but also a moment of emotion and complicity in the simplest of feelings.
Finally, and this is not their least interest, these texts are a symbol of the integration that took place between communities in an Algeria that has now disappeared.
The fables of Charles Galléa testify, in their own way, to history, and it would be regrettable to retain only the pleasant side of them. Let us therefore savor them without moderation, keeping in mind that they are above all the reflection of a great human adventure, the foam of a deep mixture of souls. (Maurice Calmein)
