Grand-Père a tué deux \"colons\". 8 mai 1945 en Algérie : l'insurrection commence avec le massacre des innocents. Avec une analyse de \"Hors-la-loi\"
8 May 1945: New untold stories...
In Algerie, histoires a ne pas dire (Algeria, untold stories), for the first time on film, Muslim Algerians recounted the massacres they committed against European civilians during the Algerian War (1954-1962).
The book-DVD Grand-Pere a tue deux "colons" (My Grandfather killed two "settlers") reveals new "untold stories" that took place during the failed insurrection of 8 May 1945 in the Chevreul (Béni-Aziz) region. Ahmed Zir, the protagonist of these sequences, sets out in search of his grandfather's history: did he really kill two settlers before being executed in turn by the French army?
Several Muslim witnesses recall with embarrassment the dishonorable fate the insurgents reserved for their European victims in this true Jihad. A local leader also admits to having been saved in extremis from execution by his Pied-noir employer during a counter-attack by the French army.
By shattering the official Algerian narrative of May 1945, this book-DVD is a tribute to all innocent victims – those of the Muslim insurrection, as well as those of the repression by the French army.
