La lettre à un père disparu

This text, which also appears in full in Maurice Calmein's novel, Le sel des Andalouses, was written in 2004 to be read at the Colloquium on the Disappeared of Algeria. During the inauguration of the Wall of the Disappeared in 2007 in Perpignan, it was read again for the 7000 people present at this event.

The letter to a disappeared father is not the testimony of a lived situation but an imaginary narrative.

However, it expresses with great realism the thoughts and feelings that may have crossed the mind of a child confronted with the tragedy of a father's disappearance at the end of the Algerian War.
